Melania Trump’s Prediction After Donald’s Win

Former and future first lady Melania Trump promised to safeguard “freedom” with her husband and predicted Americans would come together in the wake of Donald Trump’s election victory.
Trump won the presidency early Wednesday morning, taking a majority of the swing states, and is headed for a popular vote win. Republicans have seized on voters’ massive approval as support for Trump’s plans for his next term, when he will have control of the Senate and possibly the House to help advance his agenda.
Melania posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday evening, saying that the majority of Americans “have entrusted us with this important responsibility.”
“We will safeguard the heart of our republic – freedom. I anticipate the citizens of our nation rejoining in commitment to each other and rising above ideology for the sake of individual liberty, economic prosperity, and security,” she wrote.
As of Wednesday evening, Trump had 295 electoral votes to Vice President Kamala Harris’ 226. He’s also leading in the popular vote, with 72 million compared with Harris’ 67 million. Two states, Nevada and Arizona, have not been called yet.
Melania avoided much of the campaign trail, which brought questions early this year about whether she’d even be a part of Trump’s third bid for the White House. She later made several appearances, including a paid engagement at a Log Cabin Republicans event, and surprised many when she came out in favor of abortion rights in October.
In her new memoir, she wrote that it was “imperative” to guarantee that women have autonomy in deciding whether to have children.
“Restricting a woman’s right to choose whether to terminate an unwanted pregnancy is the same as denying her control over her own body. I have carried this belief with me throughout my entire adult life,” Melania wrote.
Despite taking a more private approach throughout the campaign, Melania voted with Donald on Election Day and appeared onstage with him and the rest of the Trump family for a victory speech early Wednesday morning.
While Trump’s victory brought celebrations from his supporters, his critics accused voters of putting the price of groceries over women’s bodily autonomy and voting in favor of racism and fascism. Exit polling found about two-thirds of Harris voters cast their ballot in part because of concerns over the future of democracy. Trump is going to inherit an America that is still deeply divided.
During Harris’ concession speech, she said she had called Trump to congratulate him. Supporters at her speech booed at the mention of Trump, but Harris calmly continued, urging supporters to accept the results of the election and continue fighting for the Democratic Party’s ideals.
“You have power, and don’t you ever listen when anyone tells you something is impossible because it has never been done before,” Harris said. “This is not a time to throw up our hands—this is a time to roll up our sleeves.”
Earlier that day, Trump told his supporters that he was going to “help our country heal” and would put divisions of the “past four years” in the past.
It’s not clear how much of a role Melania will play in the next administration. During Trump’s first term, she championed a “Be Best” campaign, which focused on America’s youth.
